I frequent different forums and see trainers all the time berating of putting down some other trainers. Some of these trainers have served our country in the military and public safety. Some have killed more than the average guy on a forum dreams of killing. Is it just a total case of slander, jealousy, hate, or fear?

Reading I am going to have to find the magazine tomorrow and read the latest article from Chuck Taylor, just to see what all the hype is about.

Ken,

There have always been those that stay focused, work smart and refine their craft. These people look to what they have done in ways which allow them to see their flaws and alter their future work in an effort to improve their skill, product, service and value to both themselves and their customers. They see the work of others in their field as potential lessons on what can be done and what shouldn't be. They applaud good work openly and give recognition to the success of others while remaining mute on the subject of others failure.

Service to one's country or communitee or the taking of the lives of aggressors, while commendable, may not impart the hallmarks of good character or provide a basic tutorial in good manners. Speaking out against a competitor does not elevate the speaker although he may feel that it does. If he took the time to get the grip on his ego that his ego has on him he might well lift himself to an enviable and rewarding postion.

I think all trainers have their own style and different things work for different people. I personally put more faith in the comments of the students rather than the trainer. Putting another competitor down is unprofessional. It is perfectly fine to point out differences in approach or philosphy, but don't label the other guy incompetent just because he is different. I don't do well with a boot camp mentality and other folks thrive on it. I say to each his own. If you can put the round where you want it using a style different from mine and I can do the same using my method then Go with God as far as I'm concerned. The whole idea is to hit where you want to on a consistent basis.
